Schuylkill River Trail Exploratory Walk - Sunday, March 26, 2006 - 1-3 pm
Join Bee Tree Trail and many others in a walk, this event will be a two hour walk beginning and ending at the breast of the dam at Ontelaunee, and will follow beautiful back roads and trails which may become part of the Freedom Trail and Schuylkill River Trail. This is a wonderful time of the year to enjoy Berks County's outdoors.

The Schuylkill River Trail will eventually run from the headwaters of the Schuylkill River in Schuylkill County to its confluence with the Delaware River in Philadelphia and will provide a recreational resource and alternative transportation route for residents and visitors to Berks County. The Freedom Trail will provide opportunities for hiking, biking, and horse-drawn carriage riding from Lake Ontelaunee to Blue Marsh Lake. Private Funding and grant funding from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resource's Pennsylavania Heritage Park Program is funding a feasibilty study for these two trails.

The Schuylkill River National & State Heritage Area (SRHA), managed by the Schuylkill River Greenway Association, and Freedom Trail, Inc. would like to invite you to the second public meeting review details about proposed trail alignments in Northern Berks County. The last gap to be studied in the 135 mile Schuylkill River Trail lies between Reading and Hamburg, Pa.
